Giovanni and Marilyn frequently return to Sardinia to holiday and further research Sardinian cuisine. Guests and friends often ask them for their recommendations on the island. Very important southern Sardinian winery, specialising in the Carignano varietal.
The town of Oristano, in itself, is not that exciting, but it is worth the drive to visit Contini winery in Cabras about half hour out of Oristano. Their cellar door is very well set up and you might be lucky enough to taste some old Vernaccia from the ancient barrels, they are lovely people. Try and visit a Bottarga farm whilst you are here.

We can’t recommend this little paradise enough – in a town just outside Oristano (perfect for visiting Contini winery) it is great value and the perfect place to relax after a day touring the vineyards.
